Our products and health

Health is part of Danone's DNA. Our first products, sold in 1919 Spain, were yogurts sold in pharmacies for a lighter digestion.

Convinced from the start that food is an inexhaustible source of pleasure, well-being and health, Danone focuses on a unique portfolio of products that can be consumed every day and are beneficial to health.

Fresh Dairy Products play a central role in daily diets of millions of people around the world. They provide a simple and enjoyable way to give the body nutritional support, including proteins, carbohydrates, calcium, phosphorus and vitamins B2 and B12. Dairy products can also act specifically to support on digestive comfort or as a complement to treatments related to gastrointestinal diseases. Our research focuses on technology and science to develop products with superior qualities that are in tune with local needs and consumer eating preferences.

Danone Research is working with international institutions to further strengthen its expertise in the field of pre and probiotics, and is actively involved in the in-depth study of intestinal microbiota (gut flora), the cornerstone of its scientific strategy.

Water is vital for life. The proportion of water in the body varies, between 75% for young children and 55% for the elderly. Assessing the impact of hydration and, conversely, dehydration on health is central to the Danone Waters' research.

As water is also one of our most precious natural elements, Danone's research teams develop strategies to protect this resource and reduce our carbon footprint. We do this by using the minimum packaging required, employing 100% recyclable materials, committing to using ever-greater quantities of recycled materials and developing partially plant-based bottles. We also work with partners at our water sources to preserve and protect springs and groundwater.
