Early Life Nutrition in the UK

early life really matters

early life really matters

Our purpose is to help parents give their children the best possible start in life and contribute to a healthier future. We live this purpose every day by providing meaningful education, services and nutritious products to parents and healthcare professionals around the UK, so they can make informed choices about nutrition in early life.

It's not just what we do that's important but also how we do it; from sharing our knowledge responsibly to living our cause. In this way, we remain true to our values, ourselves and contribute to a healthier future for all.

professional development

We are dedicated to supporting the work of healthcare professionals in caring for families with infants or young children. Our professional development programme builds understanding of early life science, common infant feeding problems and solutions. The practical resources are designed to help healthcare professionals give infant feeding advice and appropriate recommendations to parents.

The programme includes e-learning modules and factsheets on infant feeding, which count towards healthcare professionals' continued professional development (CPD).

The e-learning won Highly Commended in the Best Company Training category at the 2014 SMART Awards and, as of 2015, is accredited by the National Pharmacy Association (NPA).

As part of our professional development programme,  we sponsor a wide range of educational events and offer sponsored spaces on courses to enable healthcare professionals to further their education on early life nutrition.

In 2015, we partnered with Nutricia Advanced Medical Nutrition to sponsor the annual conference of the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI). BSACI aims to improve the management of allergies in the UK through education, training and research.

Delegates were able to attend symposiums on cow's milk allergy and the management of paediatric allergy, as well as speak to key opinion leaders, education providers and charities about their research and initiatives.

danone work + family space

Our commitment to supporting families extends to our employees as well as our consumers. In 2012 we introduced Danone Work + Family Space, run by My Family Care. It’s specially designed for working parents and carers and provides access to backup and emergency care, specialist one-to one advice from experts, online resources, webinars and news updates.

While planning my return from maternity leave, I used Danone Work + Family space to explore care solutions for my children. The support, expertise and advice offered were invaluable.

In November 2013 we won the Family Support award at the Working Mums Top Employer Awards in London, recognising us as a company that does all it can to help employees manage work and family life.

Our nutritionists and dietitians have a wealth of expertise and, as a business, we are constantly understanding more and more about the importance of early life nutrition and the role maternal nutrition can play in a child’s development. We want to share our knowledge and support all our new parents throughout this early life journey.

All of our employees in the UK and their partners who are expecting a baby can arrange 1:1 sessions with one of our nutritionists or dietitians. The sessions focus on discussing how to make the best nutritional choices during pregnancy and breastfeeding to help give their baby the best start in life.
